The pair killed in an aircraft crash in the small north-eastern Victorian town of Mount Beauty had flown on the journey to scatter the ashes of a mutual contact, their families have revealed.
Community members are reeling from the untimely loss of Greig Wanless and Kate Callingham , killed after their light plane crashed in regional Victoria , as the pair's tragic final act comes to light.

Picture: SuppliedBoth occupants were declared dead at the scene after first responders’ efforts to resuscitate them failed. He was also a retired schoolteacher from Melbourne’s Ivanhoe Grammar, and a volunteering firefighter with the Country Fire Authority of Victoria. Kate Callingham, 39, was scattering her late father's ashes with his best friend Mr Wanless when the aircraft crashed.
