The wife of a British man who died on the Singapore Airlines flight rocked by severe turbulence en route to south-east Asia was reportedly in intensive care when she was told about her husband’s passing.
'Can’t imagine what it must be like': Wife of Singapore Airlines victim Geoff Kitchen told of husband's death from intensive care bed
His wife, Linda Kitchen, suffered severe injuries when 211 passengers and 18 crew were catapulted into the air after the plane suddenly plunged 2,000 meters in about three minutes during breakfast. The married couple of 51 years from Thornbury, Gloucestershire, had jetted off on a dreamy six-week trip of lifetime before their flight was forced to make an emergency landing in nearby Bangkok, Thailand at 3:45pm local time.
Steve Dimond, who lives with wife Jill a few doors down from Geoff and Linda in a quiet leafy cul-de-sac in Gloucestershire, said they were “really upset” over their neighbour’s passing."He was a really nice guy. I last saw them on Sunday night and my wife saw them drive off on Monday.” Stuart and the couple’s daughter Anna Proctor remain in their homeland, although it’s understood plans had been made for them to fly to Bangkok.
"I assure all passengers and crew members who were on board the aircraft that we are committed to supporting them during this difficult time," he said in a statement.
