He suffered abdominal, leg, pelvic, head and arm injuries and was airlifted by rescue helicopter to Bundaberg Hospital.Part of the Bruce Highway in central Queensland is believed damaged after a semi-trailer carrying ammonium nitrate and a ute collided, with police declaring an exclusion zone.The truck spilled ammonium nitrate, a chemical commonly used in artificial fertilisers, sparking a 2.5km exclusion zone around the crash site.
Police issued an emergency alert telling residents within the exclusion zone between Daisy Dell Road and Turkey Beach Road to evacuate due to the fire and chemicals.“If you cannot leave, shelter indoors, and close your windows and doors, and turn off your air conditioning.”
