IDW tells its final Transformers story in 'Last Bot Standing,' promising an incredible end to IDWPublishing's line of Transformers comics.
Fans of the ongoing TMNT: The Last Ronin miniseries should be excited as IDW Publishing has announced a similar series set in the Transformers universe. Transformers: Last Bot Standing will be a four-part miniseries from the acclaimed writer Nick Roche and fan-favorite artist E.J. Su, set for release this coming May. Set in the far future, Last Bot Standing promises to be a spectacular end for IDW's Transformers universe.
The blockbuster miniseries TMNT: The Last Ronin is written by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird along with Tom Waltz, with art by Eastman, Esau Escorza, Isaac Escorza, Ben Bishop, Samuel Plata, Luis Antonio Delgado, and Shawn Lee. The story takes place in a dark possible future, where all of the Turtles have been killed except for Michelangelo, the titular Last Ronin.
Although this is the last series in IDW's Transformers-verse, fans can rest assured that it will be a speculative end, and not the complete end of the shape-shifting robots altogether. A reboot is bound to happen when another publisher picks up the IP. Like TMNT: The Last Ronin, editor David Mariotte describes Last Bot Standing as a grand tale that has "definitive creators coming together to tell one incredible version of a hypothetical ending.
Transformers is a long running series that has stuck with the hearts of fans since its inception in the '80s. With Skybound picking up the IP at the end of the year, Last Bot Standing will be IDW's last story with a theme very similar to TMNT: The Last Ronin. Transformers: Last Bot Standing will feature two variant covers, and releases in stores on May 25th, 2022. .
