Swimming’s world governing body has voted to ban transgender athletes from competing in women’s races if they went through male puberty.
Transgender athletes who have gone through male puberty can no longer compete in elite swimming competitions
Under the new rules, transgender swimmers are required to have completed their transition by the age of 12 in order to be able to compete in women’s competitions. Lia Thomas became the first known transgender athlete to win an NCAA swimming championship earlier this year
