From next week, nine bus routes will either run on a reduced frequency or will be cut altogether.

TransLink will cut bus services from next week due to a driver shortage created by flu, COVID-19, and problems attracting and retaining drivers.

TransLink head Sally Stannard said bus driver shortages were created by absences due to seasonal illness, influenza, COVID-19, as well as difficulty in attracting and retaining bus drivers. “We know Ipswich bus routes will be impacted by driver shortages once school buses return to operation in term three, and we have reduced the frequency of five bus routes, so there is less likelihood of short-notice bus disruptions for customers,” she said.
