Transport Minister gives unions ultimatum in bid to end rail dispute | Mattonews

NSW Transport Minister David Elliott says he has gone to war with his own government to resolve a protracted dispute with rail unions, warning that his latest guarantee to modify the state’s intercity train fleet will be the final offer.

“I couldn’t have given a more balanced approach to the way that we’re doing business in relation to the deed, but it is and will always be conditional to the enterprise agreement.”on NSW Treasurer Matt Kean, blaming him for the prolonged industrial action dogging Sydney’s rail network. Elliott likened the treasurer and deputy NSW Liberal leader to a “boy” doing “a man’s job”.

Claassens said it was highly likely that planned industrial action would continue next week unless the deed, which union leaders had yet to read in full, was “absolutely exceptional”.
