Vehicle traffic on Transurban’s Australian and North American toll roads rose 3pc in the September quarter compared with a year earlier.
Transurban’s toll roads benefited from the opening of new motorways like Sydney’s WestConnex, with average daily group traffic jumping 3 per cent in the last quarter as chief executive Scott Charlton hands over the reins to successor Michelle Jablko.
Vehicles through Sydney’s Lane Cove Tunnel were down almost 5 per cent in the quarter compared with a year earlier, while traffic through the Cross City Tunnel dropped more than 4 per cent. “We recognise that higher living costs in the current economic environment are impacting many households,” Mr Drummond said in a speech released ahead of the meeting.
