Travellers looking to get away for the long weekend were hit by chaos this morning as thousands of people swarmed Sydney Airport. 9News
Lines snaked through the airport and by 6am people were already forced to wait for hours just to check in.
"I got here around 5.45am, my flight is at 7.15am so I thought I would make it," one traveller told 9News. NSW Greens MP David Shoebridge was one of the travellers affected, describing the scene as a "meltdown"."Massive queue for bag drop and then another one for security.Desperate measures to beat 'crazy' passport lines9News reporter Sarah Stewart estimated 300 people were in line at the Haymarket facility around 7.30am today.Long, snaking lines are becoming a fixture outside the passport office at Haymarket in Sydney.
One woman in line said she's waited 14 weeks for a passport for her daughter and is no closer to answers after calling the office 165 times.This morning the queue began forming long before the passport office's 8.30am opening time.
