Treasurer Jim Chalmers has written to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, asking the competition watchdog to investigate rising power prices.

In his letter to the ACCC, Dr Chalmers expressed his concerns about the impact skyrocketing energy prices were having on households and businesses.

Climate Change and Energy Minister Chris Bowen is to meet with state and territory counterparts to discuss possible solutions.
