Bauer was released by the Dodgers in December after an arbitrator reduced his suspension to 194 games.

Trevor Bauer will pitch professionally again. Just not in the major leagues in 2023.

The National League Cy Young Award winner in 2020, Bauer has reportedly signed to pitch for the Yokohama Baystars of Japan’s Central League. The deal is for one year and a $4 million salary plus incentives. Bauer’s Japanese salary does not affect what the Dodgers owe him after releasing him in December – approximately $22 million of the three-year, $102 million contract Bauer signed with the Dodgers in 2021. Bauer was a free agent and could have signed with any MLB team.

Bauer has not pitched since June 2021. After accusations of sexual assault came to light, Bauer was placed on administrative leave and eventually given a record 324-game suspension by MLB after a lengthy investigation. That suspension was reduced to 194 games after Bauer appealed to an arbitrator. The Dodgers released him shortly after the arbitrator’s decision was announced.
