A professor running a trial at Fiona Stanley Hospital says the science is moving towards personalised immunotherapy as a treatment for cancer.
David Braun was shocked to see the lesion disappear "before his eyes."Two Perth patients with advanced melanoma have become the first in Australia to try a new type of cancer treatment.
"The chemo was pretty heavy going, which I knew that was going to be. But leading into it I felt fine. I had no issues," he said. Richard Scolyer, who has treated his stage four brain cancer using his own research, has announced his latest scans show no new cancer growth one year after his initial diagnosis.
"There's only three sites active across Australia at the moment and there's another couple that are potentially in the pipeline as well."Dr Khattak said there had already been several trials completed in the US which showed promising results.
