Trial starts for one of two teens accused of hate crime in Lakeside stabbing [Breaking]
It happened quickly. The victim, a 16-year-old Lakeside girl, said she was facing off with another girl when someone suddenly socked her in the back.
A few new details of the case emerged as the teenage victim, her 13-year-old sister and their mother each took the stand. All three were present at the time of the stabbing, which happened about 11 p.m. April 16 in a Lakeside apartment complex on Mapleview Street not far from state Route 67. In the hours before the stabbing, the victim’s younger sister and the 15-year-old defendant had a verbal altercation, sniping at each other over whether one of them had looked at the other, according to testimony. That spat ended without incident.
