A surfer was bitten by a shark at one of Perth’s most popular beaches on Wednesday afternoon. The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development has urged the public to exercise additional caution at Trigg Beach after a male surfer was bitten around 5.35pm. While the extent of the man’s injuries is unknown, they are believed to be non-life-threatening. Local authorities are working with the department to coordinate a response after the bite incident.
“The shark is assumed to be small in size,” the department said. “Take note of any signage posted and exercise additional caution in the Trigg Beach area.” An unknown species of shark was spotted at the beach around the same time just 10 metres offshore. The species of shark that attacked the man remains unknown. It comes after a spearfisherman was bitten by a shark near Coral Bay just after 11am on Monday June 8 .
