The system has brought strong winds and rain to the Kimberley and Pilbara regions overnight, however the Bureau of Meteorology say it is unlikely to cross the coast.Authorities are warning impacts could continue to be felt over the coming days, as it tracks in a south-westerly direction. The Bureau of Meteorology has announced Tropical Cyclone Sean has officially formed as a category one system, about 150 kilometres north of Western Australia 's Pilbara coast.
"So it's always good to be aware of the potential impacts associated with the whole cyclone system itself, and not just looking at the cyclone’s centre." Damaging wind gusts could occur for an area between Whim Creek and Mardie, including the towns of Karratha and Dampier. Authorities are also expecting a storm tide for the warning area, with a possibility that large waves could produce minor flooding along the foreshore.
