HELLO BRET: Tropical Depression 3 upgraded to Tropical Storm Bret
**PREVIOUS WEATHER UPDATE: FOX 26 Chief Meteorologist Mike Iscovitz shares an update on Tropical Depression Three in the central Atlantic Ocean, as well as on the excessive heat warning that continues in Southeast Texas for the fourth day.As of the 4 p.m. update from the National Hurricane Center, Bret has sustained winds of 40 miles per hour and is moving west at 21 miles per hour.
This is a bit of an unusual location for a storm to form in the month of June, but the water temperatures in the Atlantic are unusually warm for this time of the year. The system is very likely to get upgraded and may even become Hurricane Bret later this week. We will closely monitor the system for any signs of it coming our way, but many computer models are showing it curving to the north before it makes it to the United States.
