Donald Trump has allegedly revealed secret information about United States' nuclear submarines to an Australian billionaire, months after leaving the White House.

Anthony Pratt - who owns Visy Asia-Pacific, a packaging and recycling business - brought up America's submarine fleet in hopes of starting a conversation with the former president in a meeting at his Mar-a-Lago residence, sources told US ABC News.

Sources described how Mr Pratt told Trump he believed Australia should buy subs from the US, with the former leader of the free world"excited" at what he heard. According to ABC News' report, they include: six journalists, 11 employees, 10 Australian officials and three former prime ministers.The incident was reported to the team of special counsel Jack Smith who had been looking into the storing of hundreds of classified documents at Trump's Florida home.

Mr Pratt allegedly told investigators he revealed the supposed details to others in a bid to show he was"advocating for Australia".
