President Trump did not place his hand on a stack of two Bibles held by first lady Melania Trump as he was sworn into office on Monday.
Instead, Trump stood with his left arm down by his side as he raised his right hand for the oath of office.
His Inauguration Day began with the swearing-in ceremony at 4am AEDT from inside the Capitol Rotunda at the US Capitol in Washington DC. US politicians and foreign leaders, dignitaries and famous faces from the music industry such as country star Carrie Underwood - who performed despite a brief speaker failure - to Meta boss Mark Zuckerberg and Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos in tech and business.
