The short video depicted Gaza as a glittery skyscraper riviera and contained a clip of Donald Trump lying shirtless by a pool sipping cocktails with Benjamin Netanyahu.
Just before midnight on Tuesday, the alert went off: Donald Trump had made a new post on his TruthSocial account. Nothing unusual in that – the president posts frequently and at all times of the day.
Even more bizarrely, the 30-second video contained clips of Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu lying shirtless and sipping cocktails by a hotel pool, Trump’s billionaire ally Elon Musk dancing and throwing cash in the air, bearded androgynous bellydancers, Trump dancing with a half-naked woman , a child holding a gold balloon of Trump’s face and an enormous golden statue of Trump, with children looking up at him in awe.
Trump likes to troll. He throws stuff out into the public realm without an afterthought; indeed, his entire pitch for the US to take over Gaza and redevelop it into “the Riviera of the Middle East” probably fits into this category. Likewise, his occasional asides about running again in 2028 for an unconstitutional third term.
