The White House had unveiled its legal defence with the US president's team arguing the Democrats wrongly identified abuse of power as an impeachable offence and that the impeachment process itself was "irredeemably flawed". They will also argue there was no evidence to support claims that the president threatened to withhold aid from Ukraine until it announced an investigation into Joe Biden's son.
