BREAKING Trump-Kim summit takes dramatic turn: lunch cancelled, signing in doubt
The Hanoi Summit between Kim Jong-un and Donald Trump has taken a dramatic turn, with a lunch between the leaders and their teams seemingly cancelled at the last minute.
Kim had told reporters he would not be in Hanoi meeting with Trump if he was not committed to denuclearisation on the Korean peninsula. Trump said he liked the media's question about whether the two countries would open liaison offices, and asked Kim to answer. Earlier, before the two leaders met one-on-one, Trump extolled North Korea's "enormous economic potential" and expressed his gratitude for Kim halting missile and nuclear tests.
He added: "There are people who remain sceptical about this meeting. But I'm sure that all of them will be watching the moment we'll sit together side by side as [though] they are watching a fantasy movie."
