Donald Trump's lawyers on Wednesday renewed their push for the former president's classified documents trial to be postponed until November 2024, a timeline that would move the case to the sidelines of the next presidential election. In a Florida court filing, Trump's legal team argued that the trial, scheduled for May, should start at least six months later due to another federal trial in which Trump will be tried as a defendant.
The lawyers further argued that overlapping demands of the special counsel's two cases against Trump are impeding the former president's defense and violating his due process rights. Trump is set to go on trial in Washington, D.C., starting March 4 in the case involving efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election results.
