“Mr Hegseth provided no substantial observations on how to defend Taiwan or the Philippines against a Chinese attack, or even whether he believes the United States should do so,” McConnell said in a statement after the vote.The former presenter shared his gratitude on X for the support of both Trump and Vance.
Speaking to reporters, he was delighted with the confirmation of Hegseth who he was confident would"be a great secretary".
