This evening and the wider election campaign mark a number of firsts and records in US history.Notably, the pair taking the stage tonight will be oldest candidates nominated by the two major parties in presidential history.A small caveat to that, is that Joe Biden and Donald Trump will not officially be nominated by their parties until the conferences - but that's by the by. It's also the first time in nearly 70 years that the same two candidates have faced off in a presidential race - the last two being Republican Dwight Eisenhower and the Democrat Adlai Stevenson in 1956. Donald Trump could become just the second candidate to return to power having lost the presidency - and we have to go back to the 19th century to find the other.
