AFL, Sport, Brisbane Lions

A chat between the players was part of Brisbane’s case. Now, the Hawthorn star has detailed his version of events.

, who downgraded the suspension to a $10,000 fine due to his good record and “exceptional and compelling” circumstances. At the tribunal, Neale used Ginnivan as part of his testimony, saying he had spoken to the 23-year-old and the Hawthorn star had confirmed that the contact was “more of a body check” rather than a swinging arm.

“I spoke to Jack this morning on the phone, just via a phone call,” Neale said last Tuesday at the tribunal. A sketch of Lachie Neale at the tribunal where he said he had spoken to Ginnivan and Ginnivan had confirmed it was a ‘body check’.

“He said he felt like it was more of a bump, a body check than a strike, essentially. So the force of my body contacting his is what he said he felt made him go to ground. ”“It’s obviously probably blown up a bit,” Ginnivan said on the Ball Magnets podcast.

“ obviously hit me behind the play, and I wasn’t really expecting it. And then the week obviously played out. You never really want to see someone miss a grand final, I think, for something something like that.

“It was a pretty topical thing, but at the end of the day, I’d rather him play than not because, yeah, imagine missing a grand final for a bit of a hit behind the ball. Despite what Neale told the tribunal, Ginnivan said the action felt more like a swinging arm.

“We saw a few got paid during the year, a few boys missed, and then a few boys got off. So yeah, at the end of the day, it was it is what it is, and I was glad to see him play.

“ yeah, sort of like a swinging arm action, and when you’re not expecting something like that, anything, like if it was a love tap or like you get hit somewhere in the back, and you’re not expecting it, if you get bumped behind the play, and you’re not expecting it, you usually fall over. “Me and Choccy had some words after it, but I’ll leave that to myself.

” After the grand final, Neale posed with the three premiership cups from the past three years and shared the photo on Instagram, with the caption: “What now... ”“@jackginnivan hope your tummy okay my guy,” Neale responded cheekily. Former AFL star Tom Mitchell revealed that Neale and Ginnivan caught up after the preliminary final and they “briefly” spoke.

“So yeah, it was all a bit of tongue in cheek from me and Lachie. ” Collingwood fans were also celebrating the Neale reprieve, concerned he might be suspended for the start of next season.
