Tim Tszyu is preparing for a potential clash with Michael Zerafa in April, aiming for a victory on home soil. The fight, if it happens, would be Australia's biggest grudge match since Mundine vs. Green. Tszyu's training comes after recent losses against Fundora and Murtazaliev. Zerafa had previously claimed the fight was already booked, but Tszyu had initially dismissed the idea.

Opetaia prepares for war with Nyika | 01:27Australia’s Tim Tszyu has been catapulted back into discussions for a blockbuster April showdown against longtime arch rival Michael Zerafa - and could have no less than Hall of Famer Freddie Roach looking to deliver his first ever loss on home soil.

The Zerafa showdown would also be something of a homecoming for Tszyu - who is undefeated in all 23 fights Down Under - and continue a crazy few months for the two rivals whose proposed first fight, way back in 2021, was called off under incredibly controversial circumstances. The Australian boxing bad boy added that, while he was ready for a showdown with Tszyu immediately, the former world champ wasn’t keen to face him straight off consecutive title defeats against Sebastian Fundora and Bakhram Murtazaliev.

The 32-year-old also urged Tszyu to “stop running” and sign off on the bout, saying he was tired of hearing the former champ “make excuses” for why it couldn’t take place.“For years Tim has said that I ran from a fight with him.“I’ve heard him say a few reasons why he won’t fight me – they’re all just excuses.“This is the biggest fight that can be made in Australia.”

Zerafa added that he will head Stateside for sparring as soon as the contracts are signed, and has already reached out to work with both world champions who have beaten Tszyu over the past year. The fighter said he had already spoken directly with management for Fundora about opportunities with the WBC and WBO super welterweight champ.
