Premier Gladys Berejiklian is warning the state Tuesday will be 'a very dangerous day for NSW,' as heat and strong winds combine to create potentially 'lethal' fire conditions

Premier Gladys Berejiklian is warning the state Tuesday will be "a very dangerous day for NSW," as heat and strong winds combine to create potentially "lethal" conditions.

"Tomorrow is a very dangerous day for NSW. This again is giving us a taste for what we are likely to experience the next few months ... that combination, as we know, has been lethal in the last few months so we are anticipating a big effort on the ground tomorrow."On Monday there were around 1900 RFS crews fighting fires.

He said some areas will see humidity levels below 10 per cent, as a dry air mass moves over the centre of Australia, which is expected to combine with strong winds from the west or north-west. Commissioner Fitzsimmons said Tuesday would be a "widespread, challenging day," with total fire bans stretching from the South Coast, Illawarra and southern ranges, up through Sydney, the Hunter and north to the Queensland border.

The RFS declared total fire bans for nine districts in the state for Tuesday, to commence from midnight.
