For dinner, they have the choice of BBQ Pork Rib steak in a hot dog roll, with mayonnaise and cheese, or a vegetable quarter pounder, in a floured roll, also with mayo and cheese, and a cup a soup and bread. Their extras include a festive bakewell tart, tangerines, sweet mince pies and Irn-Bru. Mince pies and individual trifles are available for dessert. Polmont Young Offenders' Institute, where younger criminals are held, is serving up a cooked breakfast as a Christmas brunch, featuring lorne sausage, black pudding, tattie scones, beans and scrambled egg.
For dinner at the jail, where a number of the country's sex offenders see out their sentences, they can choose between roast chicken breast with trimmings and veggie wellington slice. And for their sweet, it's chocolate and orange gateau or cream and fruit with a snack pack.
