Turning 40: Inside Tootsies director’s 3-day party in San Miguel de Allende
Photographer name / Photographer nameYou only turn 40 once. Fady Armanious, creative director of Tootsies, always knew he wanted to ring in the milestone in a major way. And by major, he meant Morocco. Unfortunately, the coronavirus pandemic had other plans.
The couple had visited the colonial Mexican town of San Miguel de Allende previously. “It was just magical. The weather was always perfect and the food is amazing,” Armanious said. “It’s exotic, but close, and checked all the boxes.” “I wanted to give an experience that was different from what you would expect to do,” Armanious said. “I wanted everything to be cool and a little clever.”
The birthday boy wanted an unusual, yet elevated color scheme. He requested neon green, pink and orange to complement his guests’ bright and bold attire.A super-sized mojiganga, the traditional Spanish puppet used for big events, dressed like Armanious was another surprise. “I wanted one but had no idea it would be of me.”
