Minnesota scored six in the second inning behind a Royce Lews grand slam.
MINNEAPOLIS — The Guardians saw their four-run lead evaporate in the second inning Monday thanks to a Royce Lewis grand slam, and Cleveland’s chances of overtaking the Twins in the American League Central Division could soon follow suit.
Guardians hitters put four runs on the scoreboard for Curry in the second. An RBI double by Gabriel Arias, a sacrifice fly by Will Brennan and Bo Naylor’s sixth home run, a two-run blast that traveld 431 feet into the batter’s eye in dead center field off Twins starter Kenta Maeda. Lewis drove a curveball from Curry into the bullpen in center field with the bases loaded as Myles Straw raced over but was unable to stop the ball from going over the fence. Straw crashed into the wall and remained on the ground for a moment before staying in the game.
