New South Wales Police have arrested two men after they allegedly assaulted campus security staff during a pro-Palestine protest at Western Sydney University.
About 50 people attended the rally on Wednesday, which was organised by student group WSU 4 Palestine Collective as part of an effort to force the university to cut ties with Israel .
In a statement, NSW Police said officers from Ryde Police Area Command had arrested two men, aged 24 and 21, at about 11:20am following a protest at the university. A spokesperson for WSU told SkyNews.com.au it was"aware of an incident at our Parramatta South campus earlier today during a rally". Others can be heard asking why the pair were being taken into custody, while also insisting they had the right to demonstrate inside the university.
