Covid has made it through Western Australia’s hard border, with two people who arrived in Perth on a flight from Brisbane testing positive.

WA officially recorded just a single Covid case on Tuesday, its first since December 14. That person is a returned overseas traveller in hotel quarantine, bringing the number of active cases in hotel quarantine to five. The infected individuals are in their thirties, and arrived in Perth on flight VA470 from Brisbane on December 19. They are currently in self-quarantine.

There are currently two confirmed exposure sites related to the pair: Terminal 1 Virgin Domestic at the Perth Airport arrivals area and luggage carousel, from 10-11pm on December 19, and a 7-Eleven in Midland from 12-12.15pm on December 20. That is the day WA predicts 90 per cent of its population over the age of 12 will be double vaccinated against Covid.
