A pilot and their passenger have been confirmed dead after a light plane crashed in Victoria's Alpine region on Saturday afternoon.

The pair were the only occupants onboard the aircraft which was flying over Mount Beauty, near Falls Creek, at the time. CFA crews were first on the scene and provided medical assistance to the two occupants of the aircraft while awaiting paramedics.
