Two men are dead and two were injured in three different shootings in Gary over the course of Sunday.
Gary Police were first sent at around 2:25 a.m. Oct. 15 to Methodist Hospital’s Southlake campus in Merrillville to talk to a 25-year-old Hobart woman and a 29-year-old Griffith man who had been shot, Gary Police spokesman Cmdr. Sam Roberts said in a release Monday. They told officers they’d gone to a nightclub in the 4700 block of Broadway, and as they were getting into their car to leave, someone started shooting. Roberts said.
They continued shooting at each other when the 33-year-old was struck and killed, Roberts said. The known subject then fled with others. A second Hobart man was then shot and killed around 11:56 p.m. in the 2800 block of King Street in Gary’s Black Oak section after a group of people went to a house to rob it, Roberts said. A witness told police that the group had been trying to gain access to the house for several days, but the residents would make them leave, he said.
