After announcing the AFL’s new boss in Melbourne, Richard Goyder flew to Sydney to chair a board meeting where Qantas directors finally chose Vanessa Hudson.
It took almost three weeks after interviewing the two candidates, Vanessa Hudson and Olivia Wirth, for the board to decide who would replace Qantas chief executive Alan Joyce.
In fact, succession discussions have been a constant for the Qantas board for at least five years.
