A just-unsealed federal indictment lists the various locations primarily across central and northeastern Pennsylvania.

WILLIAMSPORT – Two men have been accused of passing counterfeit $20 bills to retailers primarily located throughout central and northeastern Pennsylvania in February.

An indictment unsealed Monday in U.S. Middle District Court accuses Eli Gabriel Lewis Jr., 21, of Selinsgrove, and Dejuan Smartt, 26, of Brooklyn, New York, of passing the bills and conspiring to do so. The scheme, according to the indictment, involved the purchase of a small item using a fake $20 bill and then making a larger transaction by applying for prepaid debit cards, CashApp or Vanilla Card on their cell phones while also using counterfeit $20 Federal Reserve Notes.Feb. 4, Rite Aid Pharmacy in BrodheadsvilleFeb. 9, Rite Aid in Ephrata, Dollar General in Mount Joy, and a Speedway and dollar store in ElizabethtownFeb.
