Two men have died after trying to rescue a toddler from a hotel pool on the Gold Coast.

Emergency services were called to an apartment complex on Orchid Avenue in Surfers Paradise about 6.45pm after two men, aged in their 60s and 30s, were pulled from the water. Queensland Ambulance Service said bystanders performed CPR until paramedics arrived but the pair went into cardiac arrest and died at the scene.It's understood the family were on holiday from Victoria and the two men had jumped into the pool to rescue a two-year-old child who slipped. "It's an extremely emotional scene, obviously anyone can understand to lose one family member but to lose two family members," Ware told reporters today.
