The men were working on the bus on the side of the Nambour Connection Road on Thursday afternoon when they were hit and critically injured. They later died in hospital.

Two men have died in hospital after being hit a car while working on a broken-down bus on the Sunshine Coast.They were rushed to hospital after being hit but doctors could not save themA 25-year-old from nearby Currumundi and a 22-year-old from Baringa, both mechanics, were assisting with repairs on the bus on the side of Nambour Connection Road at Woombye around 3:30pm on Thursday when a vehicle struck them.

The pair suffered critical injuries and were rushed to Sunshine Coast University Hospital, but later died. The driver of the car, a 43-year-old woman from Warana, was not physically injured and is assisting police with their inquiries.The accident forced the closure of the left-hand lane of the Nambour Connection Road inbound to Nambour, causing lengthy delays.

The Forensic Crash Unit and Workplace Health and Safety are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. Anyone with information or dashcam footage taken in the area at the time has been urged to contact police.
