A woman has died after being pulled from the water at Gordons Bay in the eastern suburbs.

The 47-year-old woman appeared to have suffered a medical episode while swimming near rocks at the beach, just south of Clovelly in the city’s east. Members of the public saw her floating and pulled the woman from the water, called Triple-000 at 1.40pm, and commenced CPR. Lifeguards from Clovelly Beach sped around the headland by water and administered CPR to the woman, but after 30 minutes she could not be revived. The 62-year-old man was brought to shore by surfers and swimmers, where paramedics performed CPR, but he could not be revived.

There have been eight drownings in the state so far this summer, Surf Lifesaving NSW said, and a total of 18 since the start of June last year.
