Police say investigators are still working to determine the cause of the crash, with a third person taken to hospital following the incident.

Two people have died in a single vehicle rollover on the Stuart Highway near Tennant Creek and a third person has been taken to hospital.

NT Police said they were first alerted to the incident 75 kilometres north of the town at around 6am. In a statement police said all three people in the car were adults but did not give their ages or other details. A lane of the highway that was closed after the crash reopened on Thursday afternoon, but police said delays were still expected.

The cause of the crash was still yet to be determined, with local police and detectives from the Major Crash Unit investigating., compared to 23 at this time last year and now above the 35 lives lost in 2021.
