Police investigate a collision involving off-road motorcycles and possibly a quad bike that claimed the lives of two teenagers in Melbourne's outer north-west.

Victoria Police said and 18-year-old woman from Altona Meadows and a 17-year-old boy from Hoppers Crossing died in the accident just after 6:30pm on Sunday. Two boys aged six and 11 also suffered serious injuries, and a 43-year-old man from Altona suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Detectives said a quad bike may also have been involved in the incident, which happened on Beattys Road in Grangefield.Police say a quad bike may also have been involved in the accident."The message is that motorcycles are not toys, they can be lethal weapons," he said.Anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage is urged to contact CrimeStoppers on 1800 333 000.
