Two women have been sentenced to jail for their involvement in the brutal murder of Michael Anton O'Connor, who was mistakenly targeted in a drugs war in The Meadows. Gemma Fearon and Kerry Anne Shepherd provided transportation for the killers and were sentenced to a total of ten-and-a-half years. The murder case has highlighted concerns about safety in Nottingham city centre.
The women who helped a gang in the brutal murder of innocent Michael Anton O'Connor were among those jailed this month. Michael, 31, was attacked in The Meadows in November 2021 in a tragic case of mistaken identity amid a brutal drugs war in the area.
Nottingham Crown Court was also told when both women appeared on October 3 that 36-year-old Kerry Anne Shepherd helped gang members after the murder by allowing her vehicle to be used to get them away from the area and back to Manchester. Shepherd, formerly of Plantagenet Street, St Ann's, was given three-and-a-half years in prison. Read more on this case here.

One of the cars, a Land Rover Evoque, was found severely damaged in Kirkby-in-Ashfield having been crashed into a fence and abandoned a few moments earlier.
Man threw 'acid' outside pub Craig Rose was jailed this month after throwing a chemical into the eyes of a man outside a Worksop pub while shouting "acid." The unprovoked attack in Victoria Square happened at around 3.20am on February 12, with the victim leaving the pub after a night out for a friend's birthday.
He was jailed for one year and four months when he appeared at Nottingham Crown Court for sentencing on October 6. Read more about the case here.
