Iconic filmmaker Tyler Perry has signed a first-look movie deal with Netflix, furthering the partnership between himself and the platform.
confirmed that Perry signed a multi-year first-look feature deal with the streamer and that he has plans to direct, write, and produce movies for the platform. This isn’t too shocking, ashas already been making the World War II movie Six Triple Eight and Mea Culpa, a legal drama, with Netflix.Even prior to these projects, Perry made 2020’s A Fall from Grace and 2022’s A Madea Homecoming and A Jazzman’s Blues for Netflix.
“Fela Blackburn’s life is shattered when she loses her husband, Rodney Blackburn, at the hands of a police officer,” reads an official synopsis for the Prime Video film. “Determined to get to the bottom of the incident and seek justice, she leans on her best friend, Marley Wells, who is a lawyer, and her husband, Tony Wells, who is a former cop turned private investigator, to use their influence to find the truth.
