Review: Tyler, The Creator exudes mix of danger and excitement in Sydney show | James Jennings
There are not many solo artists on the planet capable of commanding a stage with nothing more than a microphone and a backing track, and even fewer who have the ability to fire up an entire arena of people to the point where the energy being generated feels like it may cause the place to collapse.
Coupled with Tyler’s 1960s-inspired outfit – puffer jacket, furry hat and sensible shorts with long socks – the whole thing resembles a play directed by an LSD-addled Wes Anderson, if he swapped his Kinks obsession for hip-hop and eyebrow-singeing pyrotechnics.
