Tyrone, Derry and Armagh all ran out impressive winners on the opening day of the Ulster U20 Football Championship.Tyrone led 4-5 to 0-5 at half-time thanks to goals from Gavin Potter, Oisin Gormley, Eoin McElholm and a Conor Owens penalty.
Defending Ulster champions Down fell to an eight-point defeat to last season’s beaten provincial finalists Derry in Newry. The Oak Leafers were much the better team in the second half as Johnny McGuckian’s goal settled the game with 10 minutes remaining. Meanwhile, James Austin scored the game’s only goal at Ederney as Armagh defeated Fermanagh 1-10 to 0-7 to complete a hat-trick of wins for the away teams on the opening day of the Ulster U20 competition.Derry are denied a third goal in the final passage of play as the hit both posts and the crossbar! However, they secure an eight-point win over the defending Ulster champions. .
