It was a fight no-one actually asked for, and now we have the answer we knew at the start of the evening anyway. All we have learned is that Chisora is even more resilient than was thought possible.
Chisora did match him for bravado, but not much more. Opening wide his arms in defiance once backed into the corner, his face momentarily told a glimpse of fear, or perhaps just the realisation that this had been too big an ask. If anything, it was a moment of release when the two men entangled, held and farcically collapsed to the floor in the third round.
For Fury, leaning purely on the advantages of his size, weighing in no less than 8lbs heavier than his opponent, would have made it too easy. In 2018, his initial comeback after his hiatus from boxing was full of boredom and breezes; who can blame him for wanting his final years will be different. He enjoyed his customary switches of stance, turning southpaw halfway and showing Chisora angles with which he could not contend.
