In the chaos of the Afghan evacuation effort, many children got separated from their families. Now the U.S. must find and reunite them.

RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany—On the wall of the dining tent in one area of this air base hang paintings by some of the Afghan children who have been evacuated by U.S.

authorities since their home countryThey are a few of the estimated 300 unaccompanied minors who were among the thousands of Afghans who fled on American flights, according to United Nations children’s agency UNICEF. About 100 have arrived on the Ramstein base over the past several weeks.
