On Oct. 28, 2019, Uber Health announced a partnership with electronic health record giant Cerner to ease medical transportation for medical care providers. Uber and Cerner, an electronic health record firm, are partnering to help alleviate patients’ transportation barriers to healthcare services.

“Providers still struggle to unlock the flow of patient information between competing information systems, applications, and even paper records,” said Dan Trigub who heads Uber Health. “Reliable transportation to and from appointments can help reduce operating costs, patient no-show rates and help improve patient outcomes. Our goal is to simplify the way healthcare providers can access transportation options — and our work together will accomplish just that.

The relationship will impact tens of thousands of patients, Uber and Cerner said. As one example, Cerner and Uber have shared customers likea 15-hospital central Florida-based health system, which the companies say is “projected to coordinate over 22,000 rides through the standalone Uber Health platform by the end of 2019.”
