A 51-year-old rideshare driver was brutally assaulted by three men armed with a hammer moments after arriving for a customer pick-up in Brisbane's south-west, with his car stolen and the man clinging to life.
“The man immediately began to assault the driver with another two males also getting into the vehicle and assaulting the driver with hammers.”
The 51-year-old has sustained critical head injuries after the shock assault, for which he is currently undergoing surgery at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. The spate of incidents include more than 47,000 home break-ins, 18,195 car thefts, and 2,759 burglaries across Queensland last year. Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has faced broad criticism for her government's handling of the crisis, to which they have argued in return a number of combating strategies had already been installed.
