Uber, Lyft grease driver’s pockets with surcharge - jennifersaba -

Lyft and Uber Technologies are asking riders to pay a temporary fuel charge given the rapid rise in gas prices. Uber on March 11 said customers outside New York City will pay either 45 cents or 55 cents on each trip while customers of its Eats food delivery service will pay 35 cents or 45 cents on each order depending on the location.

Similarly, Lyft said that riders except for those in New York City or Nevada, would have to pay a surcharge of 55 cents. The surcharges for both ride-hailing companies is for 60 days. The money will go directly to drivers.
